Process of making a Nuno Felted Vest.
This is the first time I’ve tried to make a felted garment other than slippers or boots.
The first step was to take the measurements of a vest that fits well and the add 30% to allow for shrinkage.
I made the template from flooring underlay.
Then I laid out the wool for the inside layer using maroon merino and hand painted merino for the waistline, hem and centre front.
Next I covered the inside layer with cotton scrim and covered that with the top layer of black merino with the hand-painted wool at the waist, hem and centre front.
I placed more of the underlay for the pockets and covered that with more black merino.
Now for the soapy water, rubbing, rolling and fulling.
Stay tuned to see how my Nuno felted vest turns out!
